Destination Information:
Day 1 Arrive Makassar and transfer to Toraja Land
The 6 Day Toraja Cultural Tour begins and ends in Makassar where the airport is based as well as the hotel of your first stop over. You will be picked up from the airport by a private car or and air conditioned minibus to the Toraja land which is an 8 hour trip across the Bugis countryside and valleys passing many incredible sights and villages which are built on popes in the mountains. You will stop on route at the Bukit Indah Restaurant in Para Pare which is a small port town located north of Makassar by around 155kms. You will then arrive in Toraja in the late afternoon in time for the incredible sunset and then an open plan for the evening after checking into the recommended hotel.

Day 2 Toraja Land Full Day Tour
On your second day your will wake up early to begin your exploration of the Toraja land. You will head to the hillsides to see the famous and incredible hanging graves and the graves that are located in the hollowed out caves high in the cliffs where they lye guarded by the statues outside the mouth of the caves. These are the graves of the royals and important people of the culture and there is the presence of the Sultan’s Palace and the cultural performances that you will see around this dramatic landscape. You will eat lunch in this area at the Rantepo Restaurant that has amazing views of the surrounding panorama. From here you will visit the traditional wood carving village of Kete Kesu before returning to your hotel for the overnight stay.


Day 3 Toraja Land Cultural Tour
Begins as usual with breakfast at the hotel and then another full day’s excursion. You will see some of the most beautiful villages of the entire area of Toraja with the traditional boat style roofs that show the proud roots of the people in the seafaring trades and exploration. You will see the incredible rice padi terraces of the areas that lead up to the mountains and get an excellent awareness of the uniqueness of this wonderful culture. Dinner is at the hotel but you will sample the local delicacies for lunch or eat some of the basic international food.

Day 4 Toraja Land Full Day Tour
On day four of The 6 Day Toraja Cultural Tour you will visit Pangli which is the stone Deadman statue. This is based around the story of Bori and the existence of megalithic graves. You will see the different social levels of the hierarchy represented in the different statues and pictures. Your guide will explain the relevance of these as you wander around. 

Day 5 Free at own pleasure.
Breakfast at hotel.

Day 6 Toraja Land to Makassar for onward flight.
After this night you will wake up to a short free program followed by the return journey back to the airport where you can fly to Jakarta or Bali to continue your journey across Indonesia. All prices are included in the main packages including all meals and overnight stays. You may wish to bring extra money for extra refreshment and souvenirs from the markets.
