Destination Information:
Day 1 - Jayapura Arrival - Fly to Wamena (Lunch, Dinner)
The 6 day Southern Baliem Valley Trekking Tour is a fantastic tour, which is designed to really make the most of your week and enjoy and see many exciting and interesting aspects of the area. Your first day is primarily your entrance into the area, after meeting your guide at the Sentani Airport catch Trigana flight to Wamena at noon. After lunch (Lunch Box) visit villages around Wamena including traditional market and back to The Baliem Valley Resort where you will eat dinner and later sleep the night.

Day 2 - The Baliem Valley Resort - Kurima (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)
Your second day begins with breakfast and then a short trip for about 35 minute drive will lead you to Sogokmo for your fist leg of trekking with the guide, porters and cooks over a metal suspension bridge and on to Sogokmo. 5 hours of trekking follows through these incredible jungle landscapes to You will get to Kurima, the Sub District of the tribe and along the trail you will meet the local people with friendly smiles in their traditional clothes. After picnic lunch, heading back to Sogokmo where the cars pick you up for Wamena. Dinner and overnight at The Baliem Valley Resort.

DAY 3. Saltspring, Kurulu - Mummy - Traditional Dani Hamlet (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)
The third day of the 6 day Southern Baliem Valley Trekking Tour is a great hike up a steep and demanding trail to the village of Jiwika in the central Baliem-Valley. Start of a one hour-long walking-tour uphill (about 300 m height) trough a beautiful mountain-rainforest to the traditional salt spring of a Dani clan. Native women in traditional costumes accompany us. They will demonstrate the old way of the salt production. After the relegation we have lunch on the mountains base. After lunch we walk to the close Kurulu hamlet, where a very old mummy of the famous Dugum clan can be admired. Afterwards the women show us how the brought brine is processed. In the neighbourhood we see more picturesque hamlets. Everywhere the friendly natives offer their arts and crafts, weapons and curiosities. In the afternoon drive back to the Resort dinner and overnight at The Baliem Valley Resort.

DAY 04. The Baliem Valley Resort – JIWIKA (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)
Breakfast at the Resort. The fourth day begins with a full-day traditional pig-festival in a Dani Village. Your chance to see a full ceremony and take pictures from each event. The traditional pig cooking with hot stones is one of the most interesting events on the highland of Irian Jaya. In the afternoon drive back to the Resort dinner and overnight at The Baliem Valley Rsort.

Day 5 - Wamena to Jayapura (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)
The fifth day will see you heading to the Wamena Airport where you will travel to Jayapura using a domestic airline. Then at Sentani Airport you will head to the Indah Hotel, check in and look around the area. You can then see the WWII memorial areas and lean about the involvement of the area in this dark time. The Sentani Lake is the place where you will see all of the tribal happenings around the local village. After eating at a lakeside restaurant you will then see the Museum Abepura before returning to rest at your hotel.

Day 6 - Jayapura - Departure ( Breakfast)
The final day of the 6 day Southern Baliem Valley Trekking Tour is essentially breakfast and a trip to the airport.
