South Kalimantan offers many different places of interest to the adventurer and the resort tourist alike. The South Kalimantan Places of Interest are perhaps more concentrated on the adventure side of things as well as offering many cultural scenes which are quite unique to the area and if not to the Indonesian part of the island of Borneo. As with the other provinces of Kalimantan, South Kalimantan offers a wide range of classically Indonesian scenery and landscapes most of which have absolutely no development other than the traditional and cultural villages of the local people. There is of course the exception of the capital city area of Banjarmasin located on the Barito River which is on of the largest and most significant rivers in the south of the South of Kalimantan. The South Kalimantan Places of Interest are all located within the swamps and mangroves of the south which are all interlinked by rivers used heavily for transport and communication. This makes for great and novel South Kalimantan Places of Interest and along particularly along the Barito River.

South Kalimantan Places of Interest include the floating markets and villages that you will find on the Barito River around the capital of Banjarmasin. Here you will be able visit the local people’s houses as well as their villages and see and shop in the fantastic floating markets where people stop their boats to trade in much the same way they always have with a jolly atmosphere and some unusual and interesting items including the silver and gold work of the creative Banjar people often incorporating precious and semi precious stones. Also there is plenty of fruit and great local delicacies all available in the floating markets. The Kembang Island is also a very enjoyable island to visit where you will find many monkeys in the conservation areas of the forest and is a very popular place to visit with the Chinese and Chinese Indonesians who believe that feeding the monkeys on the island brings good luck. For any visitor, the Kembang is a great tropical island on the delta of the Barito where there is much to see and do and see.

There is plenty more to se including the trekking and mountain activities of the north of the area and the island of Kaget where you will see the long nosed red monkeys and a great deal of bird life. Also there is the diamond mining area of Cempaka where you will see the traditional methods used by the local people to uncover precious stones. Loksado is a great place to see the mountains and take some epic photos of the landscape and the South Kalimantan Places of Interest where you will find a few places to stay and there is also for the more adventurous, the Amandit river rafting in rubber or bamboo traditional boats including rapids of different ranges for different people and a great waterfall which is better for viewing and photographing than it is for rafting.
